In late 1987 Ray Hammond returned to publishing to found International Magazines plc. In February 1988 the company launched Apple Business.

The magazine was the first UK title to be created using desktop publishing and reprographics. In 1988 the magazine won the UK Press Gazette's 'Best Designed Business Magazine' award, proving that DTP had come of age.

Apple Business focussed on the business application of Apple computers and won significant support from the British Apple-related computer industry.

In Febrary 1989, one year after its launch, Ray Hammond sold the magazine very adventageously to Emap magazines.
